and consultations with Melanie.

AYURVEDA is a word that many will be unsure about, but it will continue to gain more attention. It is an ancient science that came well before other medical systems. Ayurveda (eye-your-vay-dah) means science or knowledge of life. It originated in India 5,000+ years ago. It's a system of healing that utilizes nutrition, herbal medicine, daily practices, seasonal living, yoga, meditation, and body therapies to bring one into their ultimate healthy state of being. It's a system that heals from the root cause of illness.

Ayurveda influenced modern medicine. Three great ayurvedic texts influenced modern medicine: Charaka Samhita (contains poetic prose of internal medicine), Sushruta Samhita (ayurvedic surgery), and Ashtanga Hridayam (physiology of the body and treatments). From surgery procedures to marma therapy, there is an ayurveda history. Marma are pressure points and marma therapy is an ayurvedic bodywork threrapy. It is similar to acupressure and later spread to other parts of Asia. From there, it became what we know as acupuncture today.

Ayurveda has been called Yoga’s sister science. Yoga is a practice within ayurveda, but food as medicine and how well one digests food is at the forefront. Ayurveda is a holistic system that addresses the whole person. In this way a person’s state of body and mind are assessed and from there we journey on the road to your optimal wellness.

What's your dosha? What foods and practices would have you feeling amazing? How can you live your best life?

What to expect:

An initial intake will assess past and current tendencies, tongue and pulse diagnosis, and create a plan to address imbalances and disease. We are looking at the whole picture. We aren't just treating symptoms. We are creating a plan to remedy the root cause of illness and doing so for long term health.

  1.  Initial Intake to collect your history.

  2. 7 days later report of findings and treatment plan visit

  3. Weekly to bi-weekly visits for the first month

  4. As you start feeling better we spread these out to 1x a month (or further apart, depending)

  5. Eventually you have the foundation for balance and feel so good that we just meet seasonally or maybe once a year if that.
